Digital Cytology slide preparation

Prepare the Digital Cytology slide

  1. Prepare a cytology slide using industry best practices.

Important: Always stain samples using a quick stain (e.g., Diff Quik®, quick aqueous or other Romanowsky-type stain) according to the manufacturer’s protocol.

  1. Place the stained slide on a flat surface.
  2. Add two drops of immersion oil to the surface of the sample. Use only enough to cover the sample, as excess oil can contaminate the scanner lens.

Important: Handle the coverslip by its edge to avoid fingerprints.

  1. Place the edge of the coverslip onto the sample and roll over the sample, preventing the formation of air bubbles.
  2. Blot excess oil with a delicate task wipe or lotion-free tissue.
  3. Include a label or handwritten note on the slide.

Note: Keep the slides together and well-organized.

The tips section of the user guide contains additional information about slide preparation for specific cytology types.
