Scan Dialogue Window
To open the Scan Dialogue window from the Inbox:
- Go to the sample you wish to scan.
- Click the blue Scan button.
Scanning a Dermatology Slide
In the Scan Dialogue window:
- Add the Sample information for:
- Site Name - Enter a site name.
- Location of Sample - Choose from the dropdown options.
- Location of Sample - When the image appears, click to place a dot at the exact location from which the sample was drawn.
- Blood Present - If blood is present in the sample, select “Yes”.
IMPORTANT: The Scan Dialogue window saves automatically and can be closed at any time without losing progress. - Choose a scanner from the Select Scanner dropdown menu and make sure the scanner’s Status shows a green Available indicator.
IMPORTANT: If the status is Busy or Offline, you must select a different scanner. - Click the blue OPEN TRAY button.
- Move to the Grundium Ocus scanner. When the tray on the selected scanner opens, unlock the slide locking mechanism, place the slide on the glass stage, and then lock the slide in place.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you are placing the slide within the Grundium scanner you have chosen to use. Make sure the label is to the right side of the stage, and that the slide is lying flat on the stage. - Using the locking mechanism, lock the slide in place.
- Return to VETSCAN IMAGYST and click on the blue PREVIEW button.
- Once the preview appears, review the suggested scan-area mask and the Estimated Scan Time. Please see the Scan Area Mask page for more information.
- Click the blue CONTINUE button to start scanning.
IMPORTANT: You cannot start scanning until the site information is filled in. - You have completed the slide-scanning process.
After scanning the slide, the Dermatology test will be analyzed by VETSCAN IMAGYST. While it is processing the slide, you will see the following statuses appear to the right of the test sample you scanned:
- Analyzing: The slide is currently being analyzed by VETSCAN IMAGYST.
- Error: An error occurred while scanning or analyzing the slide. You should rescan the slide. If the error persists, contact technical support.
- Review: An orange REVIEW button indicates that VETSCAN IMAGYST has completed the analysis and generated a report for your review.
- Reviewed: Someone has clicked on the Finalized icon in the Assessment drawer. Clicking on this icon changes a scan’s status from Review to Reviewed.
When a test sample has the Reviewed status, the test is complete. You may review the results under the Ready for Review tab in the Inbox.
IMPORTANT: If a test is incomplete or unsubmitted, it will have the Incomplete Test Order status in the Inbox. Select OPEN or Scan to complete the order.
Ear Samples
If you select “Ears” as the Location of Sample, then choose whether or not the sample has blood present. You will then have to create two scan-area masks, one for each ear. While creating them, make sure:
- The scan-area masks do not overlap the divider.
- The left and right smears are on the appropriate side of the divider.
- The scan-area masks are not too large as this creates a long scan time.
