Cytology Test Order Sections
A cytology test order has sections to ensure the Virtual Reference Laboratory has enough information to diagnose the animal properly. Some sections feature menus for answers, while others need more description. The Patient History, which includes Species, Breed, Age, Sex, and Clinical History, auto-saves whenever a change is made.
Section | Description |
Species | A species list, including canine, equine, and feline, is available, or you can add a new species. You can select the species when you create a new test, but you also have the option to edit it later if needed. If a newly entered species is created, it will be remembered in the system for future use, and you can choose to remove it. |
Breed | An optional menu of the different breeds of the chosen species. A new breed can also be entered if a newly entered species is created. |
Age | A menu of ages ranging from one month to 20+ years. |
Sex | A menu of the sex and reproductive status of the animal. |
Submit Test to | A menu of the labs you can send your tests to. Note: If the Priority Tests feature is enabled, two priority options are available for selection:
|
Clinical History | A section with unlimited characters describes an animal's clinical history. It is recommended that the history be kept brief, as this is best for the technicians at the Reference Lab. |
Fluid Site | A site card that can be filled out to describe and scan a slide prepared from a fluid sample. |
Lesion Site | A site card that can be filled out to describe and scan a slide prepared from a lesion sample. |
Test Features
Feature | Description |
Attach Files | Click to attach up to three files to a test. These files can be JPG/JPEG and PDF. |
Close | Click to close the test order without submitting it. VETSCAN IMAGYST auto-saves the Patient History to save the information within the History. |
Submit Order | Click to submit the order. Once submitted and assigned to a technician at the Reference Lab, the test cannot be edited. |
Site Card
The Site Card appears above the sidebar in the Slide View. It displays information for the test entered during test creation, including details like USG, RBC count, or colors. This card is visible in the sidebar for all AI tests (i.e., AI Urine Sediment, AI Blood Smear, AI Dermatology, Fecal Ova/Oocysts, Fecal Giardia, and Equine Fecal Egg Counts).
Fluid Site Card
The Fluid Site Card can be filled out to describe and scan a fluid sample. All fields within the Site Card are mandatory, except for the additional source fields. These sections are in the site dialog window.
Field | Description |
Site Name | The name of the site that describes where the sample was taken. Be as descriptive as possible. |
Slide Preparation | A menu of the different slide preparations. |
Color | A menu of the different colors of the sample. |
Clarity | A menu of the different levels of clarity of the sample. |
Flocculent Material | A menu of whether or not the sample contains flocculent material. |
Source | A menu of sample sources. If you choose Other as an option, be as descriptive as possible. Other fields may appear once the source is chosen, depending on the source type. These fields include:
|
The Lesion Site Card
The Lesion Site Card can be filled out to describe and scan a sample taken from a lesion. All fields within the Site Card are mandatory. These sections are in the site dialog window:
Field | Description |
Site Name | The name of the site that describes where the sample was taken. Be as descriptive as possible. |
Lesion Type | A menu of different lesion sample types. |
Body Region | menu of the different body regions where the sample was taken. If you choose Other as an option, be as descriptive as possible. |
Region Location | Once the Body Region is chosen, pictures will appear so you can pinpoint the location where the sample was taken. |
Attach Files
You can attach up to three files to a test. These files can be either JPG/JPEG or PDF files.
- Click the blue ATTACH FILES button.
- Drag and drop a file into the Upload box.
Or,
- Click the orange CHOOSE FILE button to browse your computer.
- Click the file to view it once it has been fully uploaded.
- Click the CLOSE button.
To delete an attached file, click the (X) next to the file.
Closing a Test
You can leave a test incomplete and work on other tasks within VETSCAN IMAGYST. Click on the blue CLOSE button to return to the Inbox. The order will have an orange label saying “Incomplete Test Order” in the Inbox to remind you it still needs to be completed and submitted. Click the blue OPEN button to the far right of the test in the Inbox to open the test again.
